Easy flatbread recipe

As promised, here is a quick and easy bread recipe:

200g plain flour

100ml warm water

14g dried yeast

1 tbsp. olive oil

Pinch of salt

1tsp sugar

This recipe is great and really adaptable.

  • Start by putting the flour, sugar and salt in a bowl and make a well in the middle.

  • Mix the yeast, oil and warm water in a separate bowl.

  • Pour the water mix into the well in the flour bowl and and mix in gradually. You should end up with a nice soft dough.

  • Knead for 5 minutes until texture is smooth and then place back into a bowl.

  • Cover with damp towel or cling film and prove in a warm place for 30 minutes to an hour.

  • When risen, knock the dough back (basically hit it a few times!) and then you can roll it out thinly to make flatbreads or wraps or leave it a bit thicker for naan style breads.

  • To cook, just fry the breads in a medium to hot frying pan with a little oil - they only take 5 minutes.

You can change the recipe to make different flavoured breads - for example I have added coriander, fennel, garlic and coconut before - just add your flavorings into the dry ingredients at the start.

This recipe works really well and you can even make it and leave it to prove in the fridge whilst you are at work then it will be ready to use when you get home.

Ok, so here's the recipe for you extra busy people!

100g plain flour

100g self-raising flour

100ml warm water

1tsp baking powder

Pinch of salt

1tbsp olive oil

This recipe is similar to the yeast bread recipe above. Follow the same method, but once the dough is formed, don't knead it, just leave it to rest for 5-10 minutes. Then roll and cook as above. Enjoy!
